Personal Development is a process in which people assess their skills, qualities and aims in life and set goals which they wish to achieve in their future. They realize and maximize their potential for the aims and goals. It includes the activities to improve awareness, identity, embrace empathy, confidence, improve the body language and stop procrastinating. The process of personal development is not limited to only self help but it also includes helping others in building their future goals. At the individual level personal development includes some of the following activities like:
  • Improving self awareness
  • Improving self knowledge
  • Becoming self leader
  • Develop strength and talents
  • Improving social abilities
  • Fulfilling aspirations
  • Enhancing lifestyle
  • Improving health
  • Spiritual Development 
  • And Improving Wealth
People who plan their career years in advance and make efforts to make them happen achieve far more than those who do not have a long-term plan and make their career decisions dictated only by immediate benefits. It’s better to be proactive for an individual to assess his interests, strengths, weaknesses and realistically evaluate his options and make relevant plans, rather than being reactive and end up in an employment where the individual’s true potentials are not realized for many different reasons. The Career Planning Model proposed by Queensland University of Technology has the following format:
Career planning, elaboration, evolution, expansion, growth, progress, progression. Words Related to development. advancement, betterment, improvement, perfection, refinement. incubation, maturation, maturing, ripening.This concept is beyond the self development or self help, except it includes developing other people. This scenario takes place through some roles such as role of a teacher or a mentor. but apart from all these we can not say that personal development includes only personal awareness and help for others, it is also a field of practice and research. The framework of personal development includes goals or benchmarks that define the end points, strategies and plans for achieving those goals. It includes the stages that define milestones along a development path and a feedback system to provide information on changes.
